Jeff Brazier has opened up about the loss of Jade Goody and how it affected their two sons Bobby and Freddie Brazier.The TV presenter, 45, revealed that his boys "fell into despair" after the tragic death of their mum Jade, who died in 2009 at the age of 27, following a battle with cervical cancer.
Jeff and Jade were together for almost two years between 2002 and 2004 before calling time on their relationship. A few months after Jade left the Big Brother house in 2002 she fell pregnant with their first child, Bobby.They welcomed Bobby in 2003 and Freddie just a year later in 2004.
Despite going their separate ways, the couple remained focused on co-parenting their two little boys. Jeff has previously admitted he was devastated by the death of his ex and said it was "insanely unfair" that his sons were "robbed of someone that was such an incredible mum." In a new interview with The Times, Jeff opened up about the struggles of his sons losing the "most important person in their lives" at such a young age.
He told the publication: "My sons had lost their mother and I wanted to ease their pain.They had been living with me in Essex during Jade’s illness, so they were used to that.The first six months weren’t too bad, but then I watched Bobby and Freddie fall into despair.
