ITV has reportedly decided to shelve plans for a third series of Starstruck.The talent show was a modernised version of Stars In Their Eyes and saw contestants performing as their idols in a bid to win a whopping £50,000 prize.
Hosted by Olly Murs, it saw Sheridan Smith, Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight and Jason Manford as judges for series one. However, Sheridan, 42, was replaced by Shania Twain and Ronan Keating in series two due to her filming commitments elsewhere.
However, plans for a series three have reportedly been shelved by ITV as the broadcaster apparently wants to try a different show.
A source told Daily Star: "There were plans to film a new series this autumn and air it in 2024, but they have now been scrapped." The insider added: "The top bosses want to try a different show and see how it goes. "Starstruck was popular, but it wasn’t as big as shows like Britain’s Got Talent and The Masked Singer, so it was always at risk of being sidelined for something else." An ITV spokesperson told OK!: "Starstruck has been a successful new entertainment format for ITV1 and ITVX, consistently holding its slot in our schedules.
