Dr Hilary Jones couldn't contain his joy as he announced the birth of his grandchild on Thursday's Lorraine. During his health segment, stand-in host Christine Lampard congratulated him on his new family addition, prompting Dr Hilary to express his gratitude towards the NHS while sharing details of the birth.
Christine, 45, greeted him with: "Hilary, firstly, congratulations, grandad again!" to which Dr Hilary then took the opportunity to show a photo of his daughter's baby being delivered via caesarean section, saying, "I know! "I just wanted to say here's a picture of my daughter's baby being born by caesarean section.
People talk about the NHS being broken, but this was a moment of fantastic, five-star, wonderful experience at Kingston Maternity Hospital." He continued to praise the hospital staff: "Baby born by elective caesarean section, two young female obstetrician surgeons, lovely atmosphere in the room, everything went perfectly, couldn't recommend them highly enough.
Where the NHS works well, it is fabulous, thank you Kingston!" with Christine responding warmly with: "Congratulations!" The announcement comes after Lorraine Kelly herself became a grandmother for the first time earlier this year.
