Good Morning Britain was interrupted with a 'breaking news' announcement on Tuesday. Presenter Ranvir Singh had urgent news for ITV viewers, as she revealed a natural disaster had taken place in China.
She informed viewers of an earthquake which had taken place in 23km from Shigatse, Tibet at around 9am local time (1am GMT).
The countries impacted include Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Bhutan and China, with the earthquake having a magnitude of 7.1. A live segment airing from Downing Street was interrupted by the announcement, as GMB cut to Ranvir back in the ITV studio.
She announced: "And some breaking international news, at least 53 people have died and dozens others have been injured in a strong earthquake in Tibet." The TV presenter went on to reveal that the earthquake was considered to be around seven on the Richter scale, and it was near the "holy city" of Shigatse.
