Actor Reece Dinsdale is no stranger to soaps. He not only played Emmerdale's villainous Paul Ashdale, until the character was killed off in an explosion back in 2021, but he also starred in Coronation Street, where he played Michelle Keegan's on-screen father, Joe McIntyre.
And the star once admitted he wouldn't have made his way on to the Cobbles if it hadn't have been for Michelle's acting skills.
Reece – who showed off an impressive body transformation when he gave up eating crisps – joined Corrie in 2008 after he was asked out of the blue to try out for the role of Michelle's dad.
In an interview with the Daily Record in 2009, he admitted that the night before he got offered the role, he had been singing the Tina McIntyre actress' praises. "My main reason for joining was 90 per cent because of Michelle", he told the Record. "I was watching the show one night and I saw her [and] I turned to my wife and said, 'That girl is brilliant'." "The next day my agent rang and asked if I fancied playing Tina's dad - it was meant to be." However his admiration for his fellow co-star did make things a little awkward on set after Reece told Michelle about his comments about her acting.
