Emmerdale fans have demanded that one character gets a permanent role in the village after appearing in April Windsor's special episode on Tuesday.

The special installment showed the aftermath of April's disappearance after she ran away on Christmas Day following a string of turbulent events that led the troubled teen to flee the safety of her family home.

On Tuesday night, viewers watched as the ITV soap revealed that April ran away due to an unexpected pregnancy and she feared that she would cause more upset in an already fragile family unit.

April hitched a ride in a stranger's car and ended up staying in a hotel in Leeds. After contacting her friends to try and find somewhere to stay, none of them agreed to help her.
