S Club 7 star Hannah Spearrit has opened up about how "tough" the past year has been for her, following a secret health battle and the death of bandmate Paul Cattermole.

Hannah, 42, who found fame with the pop group in the late 90s, has revealed she suffers with an autoimmune condition, which initially left her with "no energy" and unable to cook dinner.

The singer said she knew something was wrong when she began to experience chronic fatigue, brain fog and vertigo, prompting her to realise her health was gradually "deteriorating". "I don't think I realised how much I'd deteriorated because it happened so gradually, I had no energy and couldn't even get on a train or cook dinner," Hannah told Hello!

Magazine. She continued: “That affected my mental health, too, because I've always been a physical and sporty person, it's only when you get better and can do things you love again that you realise how bad things were.” On top of her health battle, Hannah's bandmate Paul died in April and she also made the decision to step away from S Club 7 and the band's reunion tour.
