Former Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb was forced to quit the ITV skating competition ahead of it airing next January after sustaining a nasty injury during rehearsals and his replacement has been announced.Fans were delighted when the TV star, 52, revealed that he was joining the 2023 line-up following his sad exit from Gogglebox earlier this year, however his time was cut to an abrupt end when he suffered from a broken ankle.A spokesperson for Dancing On Ice said over the weekend: "Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due an injury he sustained to his ankle during training.
He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery."Dancing On Ice have since confirmed Eddie The Eagle will be joining the cast as Stephen's replacement, according to reports in the Mirror.
Speaking about joining the show, Eddie said: "It’s bittersweet as whilst I’m delighted to be taking part in the new series I’m gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery.
Dancing On Ice is a show I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a challenge I think I’m going to relish."Stephen was set to join a star-studded line-up of celebrities skating for the next Dancing on Ice trophy including Greg Rutherford, Ryan Thomas, Miles Nazaire, Roxy Shahidi, Adele Roberts, Ricky Norwood, Ricky Hatton, Claire Sweeney, Hannah Spearitt, Amber Davies and Lou Sanders. He has since broken his silence on his injury and revealed he had to undergo surgery as he took to social media to provide fans with an update with a picture of him resting his leg in a cast while cuddling his three pups.
