He is currently the co-presenter of This Morning (2002–present) and Dancing on Ice (2006–2014, 2018–present) alongside Holly Willoughby. His other work for ITV includes All Star Mr & Mrs (2008–2016), The Cube (2009–2015), and 5 Gold Rings (2017–present). Schofield gained national attention working for the BBC, first as a continuity presenter for Children's BBC on weekdays from 1985 to 1987, then as a presenter on the children's Saturday morning magazine show Going Live! between September 1987 and April 1993.

Dancing On Ice viewers saw a change to the show this weekend. Holly Willoughby was back to host the ITV skating competition but she was without her usual sidekick, Phillip Schofield.

She instead had a reunion with Stephen Mulhern who fans will be used to seeing hosting Catchphrase and In For a Penny. It is the first time the pair have hosted a show together in 16 years after being the faces of children's TV show, Ministry of Mayhem. We are sending you lots of love Phil." She then added: "However, the lovely Stephen Mulhern has stepped in to save the day." A delighted Stephen was soon mentioning their reunion, saying: "Can you believe it’s actually 16 years since we worked together on kids’ TV?" "Back by no popular demand.
