Love was in the air on Coronation Street, as long-term couple Leanne and Nick officially got engaged, after Leanne got down on one knee and popped the question, due to it being a lear year.
During Wednesday evening's episode, 14 February, Leanne waited for Nick in the pub before declaring her love. She said: "I know that we've been through some really tough times but I think that is what makes us stronger so, as it's a leap year, I just wanted to ask, will you marry me?" Nick looked shocked and had a slight delay before saying "yes".
Leanne then got up and said: "thank goodness for that, talk about leaving me hanging". Many Corrie fans didn't seem to like the romantic Valentine's Day gesture, as they flooded to social media and labelled the proposal 'awkward' and 'vomit worthy'.
One fan wrote on X, formally known as Twitter: "That proposal in front of a bar is totally ridiculous", while another added: "Oh god Leanne that was awkward".
