Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Italian FA confirm Roberto Mancini stance following shock links to Manchester United

The Italian FA have confirmed they wish for Roberto Mancini to remain as Italy's national team manager. Italy won last summer's European Championship, beating England on penalties in the final of that competition, but there will be no Azzurri at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Italy suffered a shock World Cup qualifying defeat against North Macedonia on Thursday night and that means they're the first reigning European champions in 16 years not to qualify for the following World Cup.

There was immediate speculation that Mancini could leave his position as Italy's national team manager after that defeat and the 57-year-old was linked to the Manchester United job - United's search for a new permanent manager is well under way. ALSO READ: Bruno Fernandes set to sign new Manchester United contract. Those links are controversial considering Mancini managed United's rivals Manchester City for a total of four years.

However, it's believed Mancini is not currently under consideration for the United job and the Italian FA also want him to continue. “This is football and when you are in sport, you have to accept these verdicts,” Gabriele Gravina told RAI Sport. "I am truly sad for our fans.
