A student was left in shock after a huge tree crushed her car during Storm Franklin. Sasha Little's Hyundai i10 was parked outside her boyfriend's home in Clifton Avenue, Fallowfield, when the tree collapsed in the early hours of Monday morning.

It came as torrential rain and strong winds battered Greater Manchester throughout the night. "We didn't hear it," the 21-year-old said. "My boyfriend's housemate woke us up in the morning and said 'I think there's a tree that's fallen on your car'." At first, Sasha says she did not believe what she was being told.

It was only when she went outside that she discovered her Hyundai i10 crushed beneath the tree. "I was shocked," she said. "The whole road was completely blocked with this tree. "You couldn't get a bike around, it was so huge. "The two cars next to mine were untouched." Fortunately, no one was injured but Sasha's car has been written off as a result of the extensive damage.

She says she has been in touch with her insurance company and hopes to recover some money following the incident. "It's pretty sad to see," said Sasha, who is originally from north London. "It was my first little car and I've had it for about four years. "I can't believe it happened to me.
