A south Manchester school has been described as 'diabolical' and a 'uniformed prison or cult' by parents after children were sent home for wearing kickers-style shoes and knee high socks.

More than 60 children at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe were forced to queue outside the school due to uniform issues on Thursday (September 7), parents said.

A number were sent home, while others were reportedly placed 'in isolation', missing hours of school and leaving parents 'fuming'.

MEA told the Manchester Evening News the uniform policy reflects the high standards they believe are important for the children.
