An Isle of Skye care home has become Scotland’s covid-19 hotspot with an explosion of 54 new cases of the deadly virus. A staggering 28 out of 34 residents at the Home Farm care home in Portree, the island capital, have tested positive for Covid-19 alongside 26 of the centre’s 52 staff.Extra mobile testing facilities are being rushed to the island to halt the spread of the virus into the island community.The Scottish government has also committed to accelerate plans for tracking and tracing of patients and those who they have been in touch with.
