22 residents die of confirmed or suspected coronavirus at Scots care home

A total of 22 residents have died of confirmed or suspected coronavirus at a Lanarkshire care home. Staff at Highgate Care Home, in Uddingston,claim they have lost one in four of their residents since March this year.

The facility is thought to be the first care home in Scotland to have experienced an outbreak of Covid-19, with the most recent case registered on May 4.

Shona Zellama, a nurse at the home, told Channel 4 News last night that someone had died " every day " in mid-March. Visibly upset, she said: "Usually when somebody's health has declined, we have an action plan and a care plan on how we're going to deal with it."All we could do is prepare these people to pass."
