HBO‘s hit fantasy series Game Of Thrones has fetched a whopping US$1.49million at an auction – find out more below.On October 12, a plastic replica of the coveted Iron Throne was sold at a Game Of Thrones auction hosted by Heritage Auctions.
According to reports from CBS News, it sold for a jaw-dropping US$1.4million, equating to around £1,070,930.On the official Heritage Auctions site, the replica is dubbed a “touring” Iron Throne, and “was crafted exclusively for promotional events and tours, such as Comic-Con, Hollywood premieres, and the Game of Thrones Touring Exhibition, which visited major cities worldwide, including New York, London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin and Sydney.”According to CBS News, the Iron Throne replica was sold after a six-minute bidding war.
Other items auctioned off included hundreds of costumes, props and set decorations used in the show, all of which raked in a total of over $21million across 4,500 bidders.Other items that fetched high price tags included Longclaw – the signature sword wielded by Kit Harington’s character Jon Snow – and capes, cloaks and dresses worn by the cast.
