An Irish model, influencer and former contestant on the US version of Love Island has opened up about his battle with drugs and alcohol in a bid to help others.
Cormac Murphy, 28, from just outside of Ennis, Co Clare, appeared on the American version of the TV hit in 2019, promising to bring his ‘Irish charm’ and showing off his chiselled muscles and tattoos.
But the Clareman told the Mail on Sunday that his stint on the show hastened his slide into substance abuse. He said: ‘I had a huge ego coming off of Love Island, and… if anyone didn’t give me that attention, I took offence. ‘Me self-medicating with drugs was me escaping from life, because I wasn’t happy with who I was and the person that I became.’ One of six children born to Clare
