A man has sadly died after being hit by a car in Tameside. The crash happened on Stockport Road in the Ashton-under-Lyne area at around 11.55pm on Wednesday (April 24).
Officers responded to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and car, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
Tragically, the pedestrian - a 40-year-old man - died after being rushed to hospital. His next of kin has been informed. Police said a 23-year-old man later himself in. He was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both have since been released on bail as investigations into the incident continue.
