Investigation into Anne Heche’s car crash closed by LAPD after actress declared dead at 53

was declared dead on Friday at the age of 53, a week after she was injured when her car crashed into a house in Los Angeles, before bursting into flames.

Heche had been taken to hospital where she later fell into a coma from which she never woke up. The LAPD confirmed to the Associated Press that the investigation into the crash has been closed in light of Heche’s death.

It said in a statement: ‘As of today, there will be no further investigative efforts made in this case. Any information or records that have been requested prior to this turn of events will still be collected as they arrive as a matter of formalities and included in the overall case. ‘When a person suspected of a crime expires, we do not present for filing consideration.’Heche had been declared brain dead, which qualifies a person to be legally considered dead in the state of California, though her representative confirmed that her heart had been kept beating by life support while matches were sought for her organs to be donated.The actress had been severely injured after her car crashed into a home, gutting the property when it caught fire.

Heche’s son, Homer Laffoon, shared a statement on behalf of him and his brother Atlas after their mother’s death was confirmed.
