A major incident in underway after a man was seen holding a knife and wearing a gas mask in Inverness.Police and fire crews are currently at the scene in on Polvanie View after a property was also set on fire.This is a breaking news story.One resident told the Record: "He used a rope to come down."This is just off the scale bizarre."He started lunging at police officers."Fire crews are understood to be in attendance after the man is alleged to have set a property on fire before entering the street.

Crews are currently battling the flames in the second-story of a block of flats.A man armed with a knife and wearing a gas mask in an Inverness street has sparked a major emergency service response.

The man, clothed in combat gear, was seen climbing out of a flat window on Polvanie View after allegedly setting the property on fire.

It is understood that there are seven police vans alongside two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) vehicles currently in the area.
