An inspiring mum was pictured smiling outside a hospital after waking up from kidney stone surgery to discover doctors removed her arms and legs.Lucinda Mullins, 41, went for a regular kidney stone surgery but just hours later, a routine infection led to a quadruple amputation.
The mum-of-two, from Kentucky, was told how medics discovered that a kidney stone had become infected and that she was suffering from sepsis.The Mirror reports that doctors were forced to remove both of her legs and revealed she would lose her arms and elbows too.
Despite the tragic prognosis, Lucinda's sister Luci Smith released heartbreaking pictures of the pair smiling outside the hospital following the devastating operation.The mum was pictured in bandages and a wheelchair next to her sister as she smiled and thanked people on Facebook for their "support, love, prayers, cards, food and visits."She said: "We would like to thank everyone again for all of the support, love, prayers, cards, food and visits (her favorite) You guys are amazing.
In the next few days we will move to Cardinal Hill for a couple weeks and then come back for hopefully her final surgery."Each day is a blessing from God and we will continue to praise him for the miracles he has performed.
