Carry-On has just arrived on Netflix and the festive film stars Taron Egerton as Ethan Kopek, a TSA agent who is blackmailed by a mysterious traveler (played by Jason Bateman).
Egerton is best known for his roles in the Kingsman films and for playing the iconic Elton John in Rocketman. The film was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and Egerton told Netflix: "When Jaume first approached me about the role, I told him I didn’t want to do something that felt like an archetypal action hero.
Luckily, neither of us thought that’s what was exciting or interesting about Ethan. "What we kept our eyes on was making sure that we made him feel as relatable and as normal as possible… whatever normal is in the extraordinary situation he’s in.” The 35-year-old Welsh actor started his career in stage plays before gaining recognition as Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise.
He has two younger half-sisters and although he was born in England, he considers himself to be Welsh at heart. His parents dicvorced when he was two years old and he moved with his mother to the Welsh island of Anglesey.
