However, one location on the estate she didn't frequent was Fort Belvedere, built in the 1750s for Prince William Augustus.Nestled in Windsor Great Park, this magnificent Gothic Revival-style castle has housed many royals and was recently considered as a potential residence for the Wales family.George IV significantly upgraded the Royal dwelling, adding an octagonal dining room, a three-storey annex, and a towering flagpole.

Queen Victoria later transformed the property into a tea house, which opened to the public in the 1860s. The castle then became the residence of Prince Edward, Prince of Wales, reports the Mirror. After moving into the property in 1929, he invested further in the castle.

He would later become Edward VIII.In 1936, he moved his American lover, Wallis Simpson, into the property after they fell in love.
