Opera sensation Wynne Evans, famed for starring in the GoCompare ads, had to bow out of the Strictly Come Dancing live tour earlier than expected amid accusations of a sexually inappropriate comment during a call.

The 53-year-old star had been touring across the UK for the popular Strictly Live show when he chose to resign amid the unfolding scandal.

On Tuesday, 28 January, Wynne announced his exit on Instagram, stating: "I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing." He also expressed remorse and said: "I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection." He continued by sharing his disappointment: "I'm sorry to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances, and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me."
