The emotional mini-series is based on David Nicholl’s novel of the same name and is split across 14 episodes as it follows the intersecting lives of two friends Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, that meet and fall in love during their university graduation.
Following that first fateful meeting, the couple go their separate ways, yet pledge to reunite on the same day every year to see how their lives have changed.
It’s those meetings that the series documents, with each episode taking place one year after the first chance meeting on 15 July 1988.
