Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

In the evening, they were joined by Liam's friends and family, while ending the celebration with a firework display. A source told The Sun: "Despite it being a landmark birthday, Liam hadn't actually planned anything before being taken ill. "He's still very much recovering and is gutted he won't be on the road in a few days time as planned, but his friends and family made sure the day was as special as possible. "To be honest, now he's been sober for over six months, Liam was never going to be partying into the early hours." Kate shared a sweet tribute to her beau for his birthday on Tuesday, posting a series of snaps from their romance.
She captioned the post: "30 never looked so good. Happy birthday love." Kate shared photos of the couple posing for selfies on holiday and enjoying a trip to Disney World.
Liam's low-key birthday celebrations come days after he announced he was cancelling his upcoming tour due to a "serious kidney infection," which led to him being hospitalised.
