At 74, King Charles III is still fighting fit and is thought to diligently follow a military style fitness routine that keeps him in good shape. The King, who is gearing up for his coronation on 6 May, is thought to use the 5BX Routine, which is a super quick 11 minute fitness routine devised by the Canadian Royal Airforce. The exercise routine was designed to ensure that pilots could keep themselves fit wherever they were in the world and doesn’t require any equipment to complete.

It is made up of five basic exercises (which is how it gets its’ name) - a warm up stretch, 20 push-ups, 20 sit-ups, 20 back extensions and running on the spot. The routine also suggests a warm up jog before getting started.

5BX can be made easier or harder according to the different levels offered and its’ been reported that the King is now on level six of the plan.

Charles served in the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy as a young man, which is possibly where he first picked up the routine. The King has reportedly been dedicated to physical fitness throughout his life and was said to have been a natural athlete in his youth.
