Jay Slater's first holiday abroad with friends ended in tragedy, with the British teenager now being laid to rest. Following a month-long search for the missing bricklayer, from Lancashire, his body was discovered by Spanish police within the depths of the unforgiving terrain of Parque Rural de Teno nature reserve in Tenerife.
His body was found close to where his phone last pinged. A UK post-mortem result concluded the 19-year-old's death was the result of traumatic head injuries consistent with a fall from height.
His funeral, taking place at Accrington Cemetery Chapel today on Saturday, August 10, is set to be a "celebration of his life", his family said, with well-wishers planning to attend asked to wear something blue in his memory.
Jay's disappearance came after he had partied at the three-day NRG musical festival before extending his night out with two British men he'd met on the Canary Island.
