The Geordie stars started to get tired of putting their efforts into the series - that saw long days on set as they watched auditions and interviewed hopefuls - when they saw the final cut episodes hardly included them.
The ITV favourites were also wound up by having to wait for Simon time after time - who would often rock up late - and decided to speak to the music mogul about their future on the talent show.
