In Miami, during a Content Americas presentation today, Ampere analyst Fred Black provided a comprehensive overview of the current landscape and the future trajectory of the broadcast and streaming sector, with a particular focus on Latin America.

Below, we look at the five most compelling takeaways from Black’s presentation. 1. The Post-Pandemic Shift in TV Production The global volume of TV seasons ordered per year has seen significant fluctuations over the past few years.

According to Black, “As we came out of the end of pandemic disruption into 2022, the streamers were continuing to prospect on subscriber growth, and so we got this huge uplift into 2022.

Then in 2023, we get streaming moving from prospecting to consolidating and profitability, which alongside the Hollywood strikes saw a decline again by around 10%.” This trend continued into 2024, with the number of series ordered returning to 2021 levels.
