Imax With Laser To Add 80 AMC Locations In U.S.
deadline.comImax and AMC Entertainment have expanded their partnership to deploy laser technology across 80 more large screen auditoriums in the U.S.
AMC will add twelve new Imax locations and upgrade an additional 68 to Imax with Laser. When the installs are completed, the giant theater chain — currently one of the largest Imax operators globally and the largest in the U.S. — will be the world’s biggest national Imax circuit of Imax with Laser at 180 locations Stateside.
Imax with Laser is a laser projection and 12-channel sound system with high-def images and audio. The agreement, announced during the annual exhibitor conference CinemaCon in Las Vegas, marks the largest systems agreement Imax has signed in the U.S.
since 2018. “Throughout the United States and around the world, filmmakers and moviegoers hold the Imax brand in such high regard as a premium theatrical spectacle, which is reflected both in the success that AMC and Imax share together, and in Imax’s extensive content catalogue,” said AMC CEO Adam Aron.
