Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has given a tongue-in-cheek explanation for his shocking penalty miss against Liverpool.
Gundogan scored twice as City won 4-1 at Anfield to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League and open up a 10-point gap over the reigning champions.
But the midfielder must have thought he had jeopardised his side's title chances after blowing a chance to give the visitors the lead during a cagey first half.
Liverpool were enjoying the better of the opening period when Raheem Sterling won a penalty against the run of play. It was a gilt-edged chance for Pep Guardiola's side to get the upper hand over their rivals - but Gundogan stepped up and blazed the spot-kick high over the bar.
