United’s treble-winning side of 1999 is rightly considered among the greatest in football history, but those who say it is Sir Alex Ferguson’s best Manchester United team are perhaps wrong.
The Premier League and Champions League-winning side of 2008 were a much more ferocious attacking force – and remember, they were cruelly unlucky in their FA Cup defeat to Portsmouth that year too.
The side was propped up by the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, with Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick at its heart.
But most crucially, it was spearheaded by one of the most fearsome attacking trios ever seen in the Premier League, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez.
