Legendary TV presenter Hugh Cornish has sadly passed away at the age of 90.The Australian icon is fondly remembered for his extensive career, particularly for making television history over six decades ago as the first person to grace Queensland screens with his presence and voice in 1959.
His son Tim took to social media this week to share the sombre news, penning a touching tribute: "Last night we lost one of the remaining burning stars.
He was the greatest gentleman you could ever hope to meet." Fans have since flooded X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, with heartfelt tributes.
One admirer shared: "More than a legend.Thank you and rest in peace Hugh Cornish. Let us hope our Brisbane TV News give you a decent respectful send off tonight.
