Arsenal legend Ian Wright has backed young star Bukayo Saka in his contract standoff with the club. Saka, 18, has shone for the Gunners this term and has emerged as one of England’s brightest young prospects.

He has impressed under Mikel Arteta, both in a left wing position and while deputising at left-back during Kieran Tierney’s injury issues.

He has racked up 29 appearances in all competition and no Arsenal player has registered more assists so far this term. Arteta is keen to use Saka further forwards now Tierney is fully fit, and experimented with him in a central midfield role in a friendly against Brentford last week.
