'I went to bed with £1 in my account - and woke up to find £122k'

A man woke up to a massive shock after finding a huge amount of money sat in his bank account. Urslaan Khan, 41, had just £1 in his account when he went to sleep but woke to £122,000.

He immediately contacted the bank ‘Gatehouse’ following the mistake. Urslaan claims when he had first rang the bank, they told him the money was his although he thought it was meant for another customer leaving him delighted. I’d set up a standing order where £200 is meant to drop from there into my current account. He continued: “But I didn’t have the money in there for that to happen.

So when it did, I went to check my balance, and it said £122k.” Unfortunately, the dream was not to be and the bank later informed Urslaan that the money was a mistake on their part and asked him to return it a day later.
