A racketeer involved in wholesale drug importation from the continent, Fury was also a feared enforcer who would travel around Europe collecting huge debts on behalf of his clients.
Most people will know him, however, as the boxing trainer who would go on to train his nephew Tyson to become the heavyweight champion of the world.
These days, he looks back on his life of crime - and the years he has spent behind bars - with more than a little regret. Now aged 55 and a father himself who leans increasingly on his faith, he wishes he'd gone down another path, away from the crime that blighted his youth.
