An Italian grandmother, who has lived in the UK for more than 40 years, says she has been ordered to leave the UK after an email from the Home Office went straight to her junk inbox.
Leonarda Zarcone, 74, was born in Italy and moved to Britain as a child before living in France where she was given French citizenship.
She then permanently moved to the UK with her husband Marcel Brunetto in 1981, settling in Leicester. While living in the UK over the last 42 years, the couple raised three children and bought a traditional British fish and chip shop.
When Britain left the EU in 2020, Ms Zarcone and her family applied for settled status so they could stay. Her family were all granted settled status but the Home Office emailed her demanding more information for her application.
