A mum instructed by doctors to say goodbye to her teenage daughter after a health scare left her unable to dress herself has said the radical changes to her life will not “hold her back”.

Milly Nichols-Davis, 54, from Carlisle, said her daughter Kira, was an active teenager who enjoyed playing for the county netball team and took part in musical theatre until Christmas 2020.

However, things changed when she began experiencing severe headaches during the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. The illness escalated as Kira started to suffer incredibly sensitive skin, feeling "bruised", and seizing joints, leading to a point where her body became “completely frozen”.

After a series of tests, Kira was diagnosed with chronic pain, chronic fatigue and anxiety in May 2021. Her condition took away her “ability to move” and left her bed-bound – a “traumatic” and “scary” experience for herself and her loved ones.
