A woman who thought she was suffering from a 'bad cold' has said how she ended up in intensive care with conditions that were so severe she had to learn how to walk again.
Suzanne Graham, 45 was experiencing what she thought was a normal cold in the busy run-up to Christmas. After her symptoms worsened as she was struggling to breathe and talk, Suzanne made an appointment with her GP.
She hoped she would recover quickly but she rapidly deteriorated and was taken into intensive care where she stayed for 10 days.
It turns out Suzanne, from Glasgow, had severe pneumonia, 10-20 per cent of lung function, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis.
