Joanna Whitelaw was on a hen party night out when "one whole side" of her body "went numb." The "perfectly fit and healthy" 27-year-old thought her drink had been spiked when she alerted her friends that she was "seeing double" - before discovering her symptoms were actually caused by a stroke.
While celebrating her friend's upcoming wedding in her hometown of Edinburgh in May of this year, Joanna feared her drink had been spiked when her body "suddenly went numb" and her vision blurred.
Friends rushed her out of the bar and helped her call boyfriend, Callum Elliot, 33, to take her home where - she spend the rest of the night being sick.
She said: “The lights were flashing and I thought it was playing tricks on my eyes. I told my friends and when we got outside, one whole side of my body felt numb.
