A man who fears pies will one day become extinct has found a unique way to honour the legacy of the meat and potato snack. Tony Callaghan, who organises the annual world pie eating championships, will send one to be stored for an eternity in a museum.

The pie lover said he will send one to the Hallstatt Memory of Mankind in Austria. Tony from Wigan, who once tried to launch a pie into space, said: "It's the obvious thing to do.
