Reverend Richard Coles has confessed his fears about joining the I'm A Celebrity jungle, particularly his loud snoring potentially causing "massive friction" among campmates. The 62 year old vicar and broadcaster revealed to the Mirror: "I'd be worried about the snoring actually, because my partner is not a fan of that at all.
He made me have this thing. It's like a boxer's gum shield put in to stop snoring. But after a while, you just feel it's just getting a little bit Frankenstein." He also shared his unusual pre-jungle regime which included indulging in a 5000-calorie daily diet on a cruise and steering clear of 'triggering' nature documentaries.
Richard admitted: "I would like to say that I've been lowering my calorie intake to prepare for that, but that's not worked out so far.
I've been trying not to look at nature programs about the horrors of Australia." Moreover, he expressed concerns about discovering new phobias on national TV: "I am also worried about finding a fear I didn't know I had yet and going to pieces on television in front of a koala or wombat or something." Despite the worries, Richard is excited to make history as the first vicar to brave the Australian wilderness, noting: "I don't think there are many precedents for this, although, vicars have been going into jungles for years and years and years as missionaries.".
