Former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin has opened up about her time on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, revealing that she felt a strong sense of being 'controlled' during her stint on the show. The TV presenter, who was a campmate in 2021, has also penned her debut novel, Isolation Island, drawing inspiration from her experiences on the reality show.
Recalling the dramatic moment when Storm Arwen forced the evacuation of the contestants from the Welsh castle, Louise said: "We were all evacuated in the dead of night and sent into little Airbnbs across north Wales." She added: "The storm was very dramatic.
It took I’m A Celeb off air. We were in one strange environment then thrown into another with no access to the world." Louise also shared a particularly vivid memory from her time in the jungle and said: "One of my vivid memories is waking up in the morning when it’s quiet, and you’re the only person awake, and then you sit up and you hear the camera whir and focus on you.
So there’s a real sense of being controlled. For me, it was very intense." She had been toying with the idea of a novel for some time, picturing her main character, investigative journalist Lauren, in a newsroom setting.
