I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has stirred up some controversy with over 70 Ofcom complaints lodged by viewers who were less than amused by Ant and Dec's religious-themed jokes. The beloved ITV show, which made its comeback just over a week ago, saw the comedic duo reference Christianity and the Bible following the arrival of Reverend Richard Coles into the Aussie jungle, alongside reality TV star Maura Higgins. The presenters have been seen making prayer hands to choral music when mentioning Richard on the live shows.
During an eating challenge featuring Maura and Richard, Dec quipped, "More tea vicar?" and later called the trial 'unholy', to which Ant added 'Bum-holey'.
In a recent episode, Ant even delivered a faux sermon live on air, with Dec setting the scene: "It's the start of a new day now and the first to wake up was Reverend Richard..." Cue the music and Ant's parodying tone: "And though the night before there had been darkness and a plague of insects had been visited upon him.
But he had receiveth a small bounty that did taste of cheese. And now, praise be, he did rise again." Dec queried: "So basically you are saying Richard had a fright, got some crisps, then had a sleep and got out of bed?" To which Ant responded in the accent: "Yes my child," reports the Mirror.
