Pregnant mum Derri Mondal's world was shattered when she lost her unborn child and nearly lost her own life after confusing a serious lupus flare-up with sunstroke.The 30 year old, who was expecting during the May 2024 bank holiday, enjoyed a day outside with relatives, oblivious to the looming crisis.

Derri was no stranger to the dangers of lupus, diagnosed with the autoimmune disease back in 2019, and hence was closely monitored by medics.

However, things took a bad turn after a day basking in 20-degree sunshine saw her retire to bed with what felt like 'her face on fire'.

In just hours, her temperature rocketed to a critical 41 degrees, sending her rushing to hospital where she was tragically misdiagnosed with meningitis.
