After being sacked by Birmingham City, Rooney returned to management in the summer with Plymouth with the objective of staying in the second tier.
Following a difficult start to life at the Devon club, the legendary United striker looked to have steadied the ship with victories over high-flying Sunderland and recently relegated Luton Town.
However, form has dipped once again, and Argyle have lost four matches on the bounce, including a 5-0 hammering at fellow strugglers Cardiff City last weekend.
