Not every footballer leaves Manchester United after telling Sir Alex Ferguson to shove a football up his a***. But then again, not every footballer is Terry Gibson.
By the time he found himself moving from United to the infamous Crazy Gang of Wimbledon, Gibson had already earned his reputation.
A straight-talking team player who loves a bit of a laugh off the pitch - he and Wimbledon were meant to be. On it, a tenacious striker known for his quick movement in the box, it was at Coventry City where Gibson caught the eye.
And in January 1986, Ron Atkinson brought him in to replace the outward-bound Mark Hughes. Atkinson’s sacking and the arrival of Ferguson, however, marked a turning point in his short-lived spell at Old Trafford.
