A man discovered he had won a £4 million home while sitting on the loo - and the house was once owned by the inventor of the flushing toilet.

Bar manager Paul Knight was on the toilet reading a story about a lost lottery ticket when he found out he'd scooped the six-bedroom property with regal heritage.

Mr Knight, 47, had won the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Bath as well ass £250K in cash. The whopping grade-II listed mid-1500s property was part of the estate of Sir John Harington, the godson of Elizabeth I, during the reign of Queen Anne - and inventor of the first ever flushing toilet.

The Omaze house comes mortgage-free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered. Paul also gets a whopping £250,000 in cash to help him settle in and can decide to either live in the house, rent it out for a supplementary income, or sell it whenever he wishes to become a cash multi-millionaire.
