'I delivered parcels with Evri - now I see couriers in a different light'

They have become well known and vital members of their communities. The knock on the door, the quick photograph to prove the goods have been delivered. The rise in online shopping means many of us encounter our local courier several times a week and get to know them well.

There are now more than 20,000 drivers for Evri (formerly Hermes) who deliver up to a staggering four million parcels a week. But what is it really like, rushing from door to door to ensure everyone gets what they have ordered? The Liverpool Echo's Megan Banner spent a morning with an Evri driver on Merseyside to find out first hand.

And she says what she saw was eye-opening, and made her see the workers in a different light. Nothing quite brings me happiness like getting a knock at the door from a courier, bringing me a parcel that I'd ordered just days earlier.

Come rain or shine those couriers are out, delivering parcels to people up and down the country. There are more than 20,000 drivers who work for Evri, making it one of the biggest couriers in the UK.
